With my many travels around the world I thought I would share this unique technique that I picked up while over in the southern perimeter of Asia. I thought it was pretty amazing and never came to the realization of boiling an egg without water? The person I picked up this method from informed me that I needed 3 key items to achieve this.
1. Have to have a thick bottom cookware typically something with 3 or greater layers of material and lid.
2. A paper towel and egg.
3. Very low heat on the stove. In order to achieve this method I recommend doing the following.
First take your small cookware saucepan and place it on the stove and put the heat on very low so equivalent to Number 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Next take your paper towel and fold it 3 or 4 times depending on the size and soak it with cold water and rinse out any excess water. Place the paper towel on the bottom of the cookware along with your eggs. Now this is the trick to achieve this is place your lid on the cookware and ensure you do not remove it for at least 18-20 minutes depending on your stove type (Electric, Gas, Ceramic, etc). After this take your eggs out, peel the shells off and enjoy. The eggs are cooked since you are creating a mini steam chamber for them. The benefits of this method is that you don’t cause any of the calcium to be boiled away and it makes it much easier to peel the shells off and leave a much more tastier egg. So there you have it…Hard boiled eggs without water.
